NaughtOne - Morse Table System
Changing work patterns highlighted for me how flexible the humble dining table actually is. Quickly changing modes between working, meeting, conferencing, schooling, coffee drinking, and dining.
These fast changes are achieved by simply scooping up or sliding along piles of books, plates, laptops and wine bottles.
Morse is a study in bringing this relaxed, simple flexibility to the workplace.
The system has been designed to work across a range of situations, at sitting and standing heights on oak or steel legs.
Forbo, Oak, or laminate surfaces float with legs connecting centrally allowing users to gather and glide around without obstruction. Materials are natural, warm and domestic with an unusually wide range of finishes.
A small kit of parts connect tops to legs in numerous configurations providing tables from 800 to 1400 wide in endless lengths.
These parts are quick and easy to assemble and provide routes for cabling.
Special legs allow power and data to travel from the floor to the structure under the surface for access from above.
Access to power can be provided with ports and slots on the table surface that cater for both ad hoc use and more permanent users.
These slots also support a small family of accessories that provide storage and soft demarcation of spaces. Easily moved or removed without tools, these accessories allow users to change and adapt a table in moments. Providing a dynamic modality that encourages flexibility, adaptability and growth.
A stronger separation is offered with a cork divider that can be simply dropped in at any position along the slot.
