Vaarnii - Hoop
A side light from Finnish pine that combines a solid block to support the bulb with a thin hoop of veneer to diffuse it.
Simple in principle the complexity in this project is hidden from view.
The block is formed from precisely CNC machined parts that come together to hide internal cable routing and bulb holder support and provide a thin curved slot for the diffuser to drop into
While the veneer diffuser needed to be both thin to allow light through and strong enough to be supported at a single point. A thin micro fiber backing was used to give this part both strength and lightness.
Hoop comes in small and medium sizes.
